Your Style

Photography is important to you  and you’re looking for the photos of your wedding to be a wee bit different: a bit less formal, a bit less cheesy and a bit more fun.

You’re planning to get married ‘your way’ even if that doesn’t fit in with everyone else’s ideas of how a wedding should be.

You might be a tiny bit shy about having your photo taken.

You don’t want a photographer at your wedding who will boss your guests around; make everyone stand for hours posing for formal shots; then drag you two off to stand in fake poses while everyone else gets to drink champagne and eat fancy canapes.

You want to have all those little details (that you have spent months thinking about, planning, and even making) captured for you to remember; along with all the big important details.

You don’t really mind if it pours with rain, or that your wedding dress gets a wee bit crushed and muddy around the hem, all you’re bothered about is having an amazing day because after all, you’re marrying your best friend.

You want to look back at your photos in years to come and remember what a brilliant day you had.

Keri and James didn’t let the torrential rain on their day bother them at all…they just got on the bouncy castle and had a great laugh together!

My Style

I don’t  think of myself as a ‘traditional’ wedding photographer, but a photographer who will come along to your wedding and take lots of beautiful photos for you; photos that have a huge emphasis on fun and happiness.

I shoot as naturally as possible, I don’t ‘set up’ any shots or put you into poses; I capture the real-life moments of your day as they happen. I won’t take your rings and place them on a piano and I won’t ask the groom to shake the best man’s hand; but if these moments happen naturally, I’ll be there – popping up in all sorts of random places to capture them. One of the biggest compliments I can get from a client is “we didn’t even notice you taking that photo.”

I do take group shots if you want to have some, but trust me, these are best kept to a minimum so that they don’t take up a huge chunk of your day; and so you don’t have to wait around for ages while your poor ushers try to round up those family members who have mysteriously disappeared (to the bar!)

Mary and Eamon literally danced down the aisle – I couldn’t have set that one up if I’d tried.

I will spend a wee bit time with the two of you for some portraits (about 10 – 15 mins is usually enough – I don’t want to take you away from your guests for hours.) Don’t worry though, this is all still un-posed and is usually a really great chance for the two of you to get a little bit of a breather and spend a bit of time together – probably the only chance you’ll get to do this all day.

I do think that the bride and groom are the most important people at a wedding but your guests are a huge part of your day too, so I also document a lot of what they get up to. I want you to be able to look at your photos and say things like “Oh yes! I remember that..” and “Ohhhh! When did that happen!?”

I love weddings and some of the nicest feedback I’ve had from my couples has been them saying how well I’ve got on with their family and friends; fitting in well with them, and making them guests feel at ease. I love to photograph people – their laughter, glances, tears, their posh new wedding shoes (I love wedding shoes) and it’s so much easier for you and your guests if you have a friendly photographer who makes them feel at ease before she points a big fancy camera at them.

I really believe that every wedding is unique and different; and your photos should be too so I don’t work to a list of traditional wedding shots and set poses; or dare I say it, recreate photos you’ve seen on pinterest.

I don’t bring huge amounts of equipment to your wedding and ask you to wait around for ages as I set up but as I’m a natural born planner, I bring umbrellas, back up cameras, spare lenses, and extra batteries and memory cards. I am fully insured and hold Professional Indemnity and Public Liability insurance.

After your big day, I individually edit every photo, and you receive them all minus the duplicates, test shots and photos of people blinking.  The exact number varies from wedding to wedding, but you can expect loads;  and if you like, you can even make your own prints, albums and canvases from the files you receive. I usually try to get your images uploaded to your online gallery within 4-6 weeks of your wedding, and you’ll get your USB through the post soon after that.
